Tactical Operations Command by IPTM
Tactical Operations Command
This comprehensive course is designed to prepare tactical commanders and team leaders for the complex responsibilities they face in modern law enforcement operations. Through a combination of hands-on exercises and realistic scenario-based training, participants will gain practical experience applying the concepts and strategies presented throughout the week.
The curriculum begins with an exploration of how tactical operations developed within law enforcement, including the evolution of tactical teams and the various models used today. Participants will examine the foundational history, underlying philosophy, and operational justification for establishing tactical units within agencies. The course then transitions to the fundamental responsibilities of a tactical commander, including personnel recruitment and retention, establishment of performance standards, proper documentation procedures, and comprehensive training protocols.
As the course progresses, participants will study both foundational and advanced tactical theory, examine different leadership structures, understand various organizational models, and explore the legal framework governing tactical team operations. Advanced topics covered include hostage and barricade situations, knock and announce procedures, no-knock warrant execution, responses to spontaneous violent incidents, and critical incident management. The course also addresses how to navigate internal and external factors that may impact team operations during critical events.
