Police Applicant Background Investigation by IPTM
Police Applicant Background Investigation
This comprehensive course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to execute impartial, comprehensive, and legally defensible background investigations that align with professional agency standards.
The program covers essential Federal and State legislative requirements, relevant case law, recent Supreme Court precedents, and applicable administrative regulations pertaining to personnel selection and employment practices. Participants will examine Federal and State employment fairness statutes, public records access laws, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission guidelines, Americans with Disabilities Act provisions, and how these legal frameworks affect the background investigation and hiring decision process.
Throughout the course, attendees will explore effective internet search resources for gathering background data, expectations regarding psychological evaluation findings, appropriate drug screening methodologies, and evidence-based interview strategies for applicants, references, former supervisors, and community contacts. The training emphasizes proper documentation and report development for investigative conclusions.
