Course Overview
This intensive 3-day workshop, developed through a special partnership between Gap Science and J13 Forensics, provides forensic professionals and students with practical, hands-on training in detecting, enhancing, and investigating blood evidence using cutting-edge tools and current methodologies. Participants will develop the expertise and confidence necessary to handle complex blood evidence cases in real-world law enforcement and forensic laboratory settings.
What You'll Learn
Blood Evidence Fundamentals: Explore the physiological properties of blood and its critical role as forensic evidence in criminal investigations.
Advanced Detection Techniques: Gain hands-on experience using the Foster+Freeman Crime-lite AUTO to identify and document bloodstains across multiple surfaces. Participants will perform presumptive and confirmatory testing using Luminol, Bluestar, Phenolphthalein, and OBTI test kits.
Bloodstain Enhancement Methods: Learn to enhance latent prints through practical application of fixatives and visualization techniques using the Crime-lite AUTO with reagents including Amido Black, Leucocrystal Violet, Acid Yellow 7, Acid Violet 17, Hungarian Red, and Coomassie Blue.
Investigative Protocol: Master the proper sequence for processing bloody evidence to maximize investigative opportunities and ensure comprehensive case analysis.

Attendance Requirements
Full attendance is required to receive course certification. Cancellations must be made at least 15 days prior to the course start date. Cancellations within 15 days will incur a $150 fee, which may be waived for legitimate emergencies. No-shows forfeit tuition payments. Substitutions are permitted at any time before the course begins.
