Property and Evidence Room Management

This comprehensive 16-hour course equips law enforcement professionals with essential knowledge for managing property and evidence facilities from initial collection through courtroom presentation and final disposition. Participants will master proper documentation, inventory control, disposal, and purging procedures for all types of evidence while maintaining departmental security and integrity.

The curriculum emphasizes both the practical and legal dimensions of evidence room operations. Instruction covers the physical security requirements for evidence storage facilities, applicable legal frameworks governing such operations, and relevant OSHA compliance standards. Attendees will examine various storage solutions, understand proper evidence packaging techniques for both secure storage and laboratory submission, and explore specialized handling protocols for hazardous and bio-hazardous materials.
