ENTRY LEVEL POLICE OFFICER

The Clinton Police Department is seeking to hire for the entry level position of Probationary Patrol Officer. 

Salary 7/1/24: $66,061.83 – Probationary Patrol Officer

Salary 1/1/25: $67,548.22 – Probationary Patrol Officer

Salary 7/1/25: $69,086.05 – Probationary Patrol Officer

Contractual benefits include a 4 on 2 off, 8-hour day schedule for Patrol, defined pension benefits (currently 10 year vesting, negotiations pending), medical insurance (State Partnership Plan 2.0, 18% current employee cost share), Dental (Cigna, 18% current employee cost share), Vision (18% current employee cost share), paid vacation, paid holidays, paid personal leave, paid sick time, paid funeral leave, paid maternity/paternity leave, comp time accrual, advanced education stipend, longevity stipend, and annual uniform allowance.

2023-26 Clinton Police Union Contract

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s Degree preferred
  • Possess a valid Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator’s license
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Be of good character and high moral standards
  • You must be a citizen of the United States 
  • Must be able to pass a thorough background investigation, polygraph, medical and psychological examination as well as physical agility and written tests. 
  • Other special requirements may apply.

 

HIRING PROCESS

The selection process will include, at minimum, a detailed review of your application packet, and the successful completion of the Department’s selection process which includes but may not be limited to the following:

  • Written Examination score of 70 % or higher 
  • Physical Agility Testing
  • Oral Board Examination
  • Chief of Police Interview
  • Police Commission Oral Board Examination
  • Polygraph Examination
  • Psychological Examination
  • Detailed Background Investigation
  • Medical Exam
