This is an INTERNAL advertisement. The Walton County Sheriff’s Office is actively seeking qualified applicants for the position of Fiscal Services Bookkeeper I.
Essential Duties:
Verify invoices against purchase orders for payment;
Process/verify encumbrance of purchase orders;
Process account payable checks;
Process travel reimbursement;
Deposit cash in bank
Serves as back-up bookkeeper in making cash deposit receipts and journal entries;
Prepare and files 1099’s with the Internal Revenue Service at end of calendar year;
Completes, updates, and submits required reports/documents/forms;
Completes assignments/special projects as assigned;
Operation of standard office equipment.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
- Knowledge of entry level bookkeeping practices.
- Knowledge of processing/verifying invoices for payment.
- Knowledge of computer/software/office equipment.
- Skilled in both verbal and written communication.
- Applicant must have good inter-personal skills.
- Applicant must have general comprehension/listening skills.
Minimum Training and Experience:
Applicant must have high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Applicant must have at least two years of bookkeeping/accounts payable experience.
College education in business related studies can substitute for the required experience.
Preference will be given to applicants that also have experience in accounts payable.
