Course Description
This intensive three-day program delivers an in-depth examination of internal affairs investigations across all stages, beginning with initial allegations and concluding with disciplinary appeals. Participants will gain exposure to industry best practices, established standards, and proven methodologies for effectively managing internal affairs cases and related administrative proceedings.
The curriculum places strong emphasis on legal considerations, administrative procedures, and sound investigative methodology. Particular attention is given to due process requirements mandated by the U.S. Constitution and applicable state regulations, as well as landmark legal precedents such as Garrity, Weingarten, Loudermill, and other significant court rulings that shape administrative investigations.
This training is designed for both sworn and non-sworn personnel across all public safety disciplines, organizational levels, and job roles who are involved in conducting administrative investigations, imposing discipline, and managing associated proceedings.
