Participants will gain proficiency in Open-Source Intelligence Techniques (OSINT), which enable investigators to gather evidence and suspect information without requiring legal orders. The course covers Internet Protocol fundamentals and explores the Dark Web environment. Advanced Google search strategies will be emphasized, along with practical guidance on establishing online personas for investigative purposes.
A significant portion of the training focuses on forensic mapping applications, specifically utilizing specialized tools to examine and analyze Snapchat geolocation information for investigative leads.
Technical Requirements
Students must bring a personal laptop with active internet connectivity. Google Earth Pro for Desktop must be pre-installed prior to class attendance. Additionally, participants should bring a mouse to use with their laptop during hands-on exercises.
