Course Overview
This comprehensive two-and-a-half-day seminar is tailored for detectives and investigators who focus on homicide and violent crime cases. The training delivers a comprehensive methodology for handling homicide investigations, progressing systematically from initial response through crime scene preservation, evidence documentation, suspect identification, and trial readiness.
Participants will examine various homicide categories, offender behavioral patterns, self-inflicted deaths, intentionally misdirected or fabricated death scenes, and prosecutions without physical remains. The course also addresses the specialized investigation of unidentified deceased individuals.
The program prioritizes meticulous case documentation, professional report preparation, courtroom readiness, and productive collaboration with medical examiners, coroners, and prosecution teams. Participants will also examine modern investigative resources and techniques, including mobile device forensics, information systems, and contemporary investigative challenges posed by online platforms.

About the Instructor
Robert G. Lowery, Jr. served as Commander of the Greater St. Louis Major Case Squad, an elite multi-jurisdictional task force dedicated to investigating serious violent crimes across Missouri and Illinois. In this capacity, he oversaw operations serving 2.5 million residents across 12 counties. He established partnerships with major federal agencies including the FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, ATF, Secret Service, and IRS to enhance investigative resources for active homicide cases.
Throughout his career, Mr. Lowery created specialized units including the Technical Operations Group, which leveraged electronic surveillance technology for suspect apprehension, and the Family Liaison Program, which provided trained investigators to support homicide victim families. He has coordinated investigations involving 500 law enforcement professionals from more than 100 agencies and managed complex murder cases requiring inter-agency collaboration.
Mr. Lowery maintains membership in the International Homicide Investigators Association, serves with the Federal Agency Task Force on Missing and Exploited Children, belongs to the International Coroners and Medical Examiners Association, and is affiliated with the FBI National Academy Association.
