Duration: 20 hours

Course Overview

This comprehensive 2-day, 20-hour program merges Interdiction Academy 2.0 with Deceptive Behavioral Detection 2.0, creating an integrated curriculum tailored for law enforcement professionals working in investigative and patrol capacities.

Day One: Deceptive Behavioral Detection

The first day emphasizes detecting both verbal and non-verbal indicators of deception. Participants will examine how the prefrontal cortex, limbic system, and temporal lobes drive deceptive behavior patterns. The instruction addresses how stress and cultural factors influence communication styles, along with establishing behavioral baselines to identify significant departures from normal behavior. Training covers the phases of deception—preparation, execution, defense, and aftermath—as well as pacifying behaviors, the distinction between rehearsed and spontaneous reactions, and elicitation techniques applicable to both roadside and investigative interview settings.

Day Two: Criminal Interdiction and Roadside Encounters

The second day concentrates on recognizing indicators of criminal activity during traffic stops, including criminal driving patterns, vehicle registration irregularities, known smuggling approaches, roadside positioning strategies, fabricated explanations, deceptive travel accounts, and effective interview methods. Officers will develop skills to translate observations into reasonable suspicion and probable cause while maintaining courtroom defensibility and anticipating cross-examination challenges.

Nick Jackson brings extensive practical experience to this training, serving as a nationally recognized interdiction specialist with over 14 years in law enforcement. His background includes more than 10 years specializing in narcotics and criminal interdiction operations, resulting in the recovery of millions in illicit currency, thousands of kilograms of controlled substances, and hundreds of felony convictions. The curriculum emphasizes real-world methodologies, established interdiction practices, behavioral science principles, and litigation-resistant techniques.
