Cartel Traps
Cartel Traps: Hidden Compartment Training
Idaho POST Approved
This comprehensive single-day classroom course equips law enforcement officers with practical skills and knowledge to conduct thorough and effective vehicle searches that go well beyond basic inspection techniques.
Participants will master a systematic methodology for identifying and clearing natural voids throughout vehicles, recognizing signs of aftermarket modifications, and discovering sophisticated hidden compartments designed to conceal narcotics, currency, weapons, and other contraband. The training covers recognition of tooling marks, tampering evidence, dimensional inconsistencies, non-factory construction methods, electronic and manual access systems, and additional concealment indicators.
The curriculum addresses hidden compartments located throughout a vehicle's structure, encompassing floors, firewalls, rocker panels, dashboards, center consoles, roofs, trunks, cargo areas, engine compartments, and other frequently exploited spaces.
Throughout the training, instructors utilize real-world photographs, instructional videos, case studies, and comprehensive trap-car breakdowns to demonstrate exactly what these compartments resemble and, most importantly, how to identify the telltale signs that lead to successful discovery.
Whether dealing with commonly overlooked natural voids or highly advanced electronically controlled compartments, this course provides officers with a practical, systematic approach to vehicle searching that can be deployed immediately during field operations.
Course Motto: Clear the Voids. Know what factory looks like. Stop missing traps.
Training is restricted to sworn law enforcement personnel only.
