Course Description

This comprehensive training program highlights the critical role that systematic interviewing methodologies play in modern criminal investigations. As conventional investigative techniques face increasing scrutiny within U.S. and Canadian court systems, law enforcement professionals need to master interview approaches that consistently generate truthful, legally admissible statements.

Taught by an instructor with more than 35 years of hands-on interviewing experience, this course offers a unique perspective shaped by extensive work with both law enforcement agencies and criminal defense counsel. This balanced viewpoint ensures participants develop interviewing skills that are both practically effective and legally sound.

The program emphasizes core competencies including active listening, strategic patience, relationship-building, and the structured stages of the interview process. Through these foundational elements, trainees will learn to conduct interviews that produce reliable, confession-quality statements ready for courtroom presentation. The curriculum incorporates actual interview recordings, providing realistic exposure to authentic scenarios and sensitive material that participants may encounter in the field.
