Course Overview
This intensive four-day program is designed to equip participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical expertise in cellular phone technology and data analysis as it relates to criminal investigations. Throughout the course, students engage in over twenty-five hands-on exercises that reinforce learning and develop proficiency in working with cellular records and related investigative data.
Course Content
Day 1: The course begins with an introduction to the various law enforcement resources available to support investigations. Participants learn foundational concepts including cellular technology fundamentals, relevant terminology, and the historical evolution of mobile communications. Students are also introduced to CellHawk software and learn how to utilize this tool for analyzing call detail records and other types of investigative data collected by law enforcement agencies.
Day 2: Participants work with actual historical call detail records (CDRs) obtained from major cellular service providers including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and US Cellular. Instruction focuses on proper interpretation of these records and identification of the significant information they provide for investigations.
This course provides students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to effectively analyze cellular phone data and mapping information in support of criminal investigations.
