Course Overview
This intensive one-day classroom program equips law enforcement officers with essential knowledge and practical techniques for conducting thorough and effective vehicle examinations. Participants will advance beyond standard search procedures to master the systematic identification and clearance of natural voids found throughout vehicles, learn to recognize signs of aftermarket modifications, and develop skills in detecting sophisticated hidden compartments used to store narcotics, currency, weapons, and other contraband.
Course Content
Students will gain expertise in identifying tooling marks, tampering evidence, dimensional inconsistencies, non-factory construction methods, electronic and manual access systems, and other concealment indicators. The curriculum addresses hidden compartments across all vehicle areas, including floors, firewalls, rocker panels, dashboards, center consoles, roofs, trunks, cargo areas, and engine compartments.
The instruction utilizes real-world photographs, videos, case studies, and detailed trap-car breakdowns to demonstrate exactly what these compartments appear as and, more importantly, what telltale signs reveal their presence. From commonly overlooked natural voids to highly sophisticated electronically controlled compartments, this course teaches a systematic vehicle search methodology applicable immediately in field operations.
