Cartel Traps
Cartel Traps: Hidden Compartment Training
This intensive eight-hour classroom program equips law enforcement officers with advanced techniques and practical knowledge for conducting thorough and sophisticated vehicle inspections. Participants will move beyond standard search procedures to master systematic identification and clearance of concealed spaces throughout vehicles.
The curriculum covers recognition of aftermarket alterations, detection of advanced hidden compartments designed to store illegal drugs, cash, weapons, and other contraband, as well as identification of tooling marks, tampering evidence, dimension anomalies, non-original construction methods, and both electronic and manual access mechanisms.
Trainees will learn to examine hidden compartments in multiple vehicle locations, including:
- Floor panels and firewalls
- Rocker panels and dashboards
- Center consoles and roof panels
- Trunks and cargo areas
- Engine compartments and other frequently exploited spaces
The training utilizes authentic photographs, video demonstrations, detailed case analyses, and complete trap vehicle breakdowns to provide officers with visual understanding of compartment construction and critical discovery indicators. Participants will gain a methodical vehicle search strategy applicable immediately to field operations, from basic overlooked voids to highly complex electronically controlled compartments.
