Cartel Traps: Hidden Compartment Training

This intensive one-day classroom program equips law enforcement officers with advanced knowledge and practical skills to conduct thorough and effective vehicle inspections. Participants will move well beyond standard search procedures to master systematic techniques for identifying and clearing the natural voids present throughout a vehicle, recognizing indicators of aftermarket alterations, and discovering concealed compartments employed to hide narcotics, currency, weapons, and other contraband.

Throughout the course, attendees will develop expertise in recognizing tooling marks, signs of tampering, dimensional inconsistencies, non-factory construction methods, electronic and manual access mechanisms, and additional concealment indicators. The curriculum comprehensively covers hidden compartments across all vehicle areas, including floors, firewalls, rocker panels, dashboards, center consoles, roof panels, trunks, cargo spaces, engine compartments, and other frequently exploited locations.

Instruction utilizes real-world photographs, video demonstrations, documented case studies, and detailed examinations of trap-equipped vehicles to provide participants with a clear visual understanding of these compartments and, critically, how to identify the telltale signs that reveal their presence. The course progresses from commonly overlooked natural voids to highly advanced electronically controlled compartments, furnishing officers with a methodical vehicle search strategy that can be directly applied during street-level operations.
