CAD Diagramming with DVI-3D

Date & Time:
  • April 28, 2027 – April 30, 2027
Location:
Jacksonville, FL

This comprehensive 24-hour course equips law enforcement professionals and engineers with the skills needed to create accurate, presentation-ready crash scene diagrams using computer-aided design technology and DVI-3D software. Participants will gain proficiency in producing scaled 2D and 3D diagrams suitable for courtroom presentation while learning to document, evaluate, and visually communicate crash scene evidence.

Throughout the course, students will acquire practical experience importing field measurements obtained through various collection methods, including total station surveying, GPS technology, drone imagery, point cloud data, and baseline coordinate systems. The curriculum covers essential CAD skills including project initialization, line creation, model placement, layer organization, project tree management, dimensional and three-dimensional diagramming, and surface modeling.

Advanced instruction addresses geospatial referencing of field data, integration of multiple data sources, extraction of variables needed for reconstruction calculations, and optimization of diagrams for courtroom and client presentations. Real-world scenario-based activities and practical projects enable participants to apply CAD techniques to actual investigative situations.

Topics Covered

  • CAD concepts, software navigation, and initial project configuration
  • Loading and organizing field measurement information
  • Two and three-dimensional linework, surface development, and scene construction
