This two-day intensive training program is tailored for law enforcement professionals, crime scene investigators, and forensic specialists who need to develop expertise in managing complex death investigations. The course is led by an experienced former homicide investigator who emphasizes practical application over theoretical concepts.

Participants will gain proficiency in handling the crucial initial phases of a suspicious death response, including techniques for distinguishing between natural deaths, suicides, and criminal homicides. Using real-world case examples, attendees will develop the investigative perspective necessary to properly secure physical evidence, conduct effective witness interviews, and identify additional indicators that help determine whether the death represents a criminal act.

Key Topics Covered:

  • Securing and taking control of a suspicious death scene
  • Making preliminary determinations: natural causes, suicide, or homicide
  • Understanding what the death scene evidence reveals
  • Implementing proper crime scene preservation and protecting delicate physical evidence
  • Identifying anomalies and out-of-place materials at the scene
  • Following the evidence trail rather than relying on preconceived assumptions
