This comprehensive 40-hour course is designed to equip law enforcement professionals—whether responding first to a scene or leading the investigation—with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to conduct thorough and professional homicide investigations.

The program covers a broad spectrum of topics related to death investigations. Participants will explore various types of homicides they may encounter in the field, along with proven investigative approaches tailored to each scenario. The course emphasizes a systematic methodology for managing crime scenes, beginning with initial arrival procedures and progressing through proper scene documentation and evidence collection methods. Students will also discover how cutting-edge forensic science and modern technology can enhance investigative outcomes.

Beyond the physical crime scene, the curriculum addresses critical investigative skills including criminal personality profiling, interrogation methods specific to homicide cases, and strategies for managing media relations during death investigations.

This course is designed for patrol officers, newly assigned and experienced detectives, investigations supervisors, crime scene technicians, medical examiner and coroner investigators, and military investigative personnel. Enrollment is restricted to sworn law enforcement officers and personnel directly assigned to law enforcement agencies.
