Overview: This intensive two-day program provides law enforcement personnel with comprehensive training on servicing and maintaining pump-action and semi-automatic shotguns commonly deployed in duty and defensive roles. Participants gain hands-on expertise in the disassembly, reassembly, inspection, and repair of popular models from leading manufacturers.
Shotgun Models Covered:
- Remington 870, 1100, and 1187
- Mossberg 500 and 590
- Benelli M1-90, M2, M3, M4, and 1014
Course Content: The curriculum encompasses fundamental armoring techniques including field stripping and maintenance procedures, complete disassembly and reassembly protocols, headspace measurement and wear inspections, and evaluation of action cycles and function. Instruction covers trigger group assembly, barrel maintenance with inspection and repair procedures, forend assemblies and action bars, bolt assemblies including extractors and firing pins, flex tab trio assemblies, ejector service, magazine tube repair and replacement, shell latch inspection and replacement, and hookspace and stem adjustments.
Instruction & Materials: All necessary tools, instructional manuals, and reference materials are supplied by Defensive Edge Training. Students are required to bring their own weapon systems to become proficient with their specific configurations and any department-approved modifications. This also allows time for thorough cleaning and inspection of personal equipment, with instructors available to perform any necessary repairs or part replacements during the course.
Availability & Locations: Multiple scheduled sessions are offered throughout 2026 and 2027 at various law enforcement facilities across the United States, including locations in North Dakota, Minnesota, Wyoming, Colorado, Maryland, Ohio, Indiana, Kansas, South Dakota, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. All sessions are restricted to law enforcement personnel only.
