Homicide Investigation

This comprehensive 40-hour course equips law enforcement professionals with the critical knowledge and skills necessary to conduct thorough and professional investigations of homicide cases, whether serving as an initial responder or primary investigator.

The curriculum covers a wide range of homicide scenarios and investigative methodologies. Participants will gain understanding of different homicide classifications and the appropriate investigative approaches for each type. The course emphasizes a systematic methodology for managing crime scenes, beginning with initial arrival and continuing through proper documentation and evidence preservation. Students will also explore how contemporary forensic science and investigative technology can enhance case outcomes.

Beyond crime scene investigation, the training addresses criminal profiling techniques, interrogation procedures applicable to homicide cases, and strategies for managing media relations during death investigations.

Target Audience:

This course is designed for patrol officers, newly assigned and experienced detectives, investigation supervisors, crime scene technicians, medical examiner and coroner investigators, and military investigative personnel. Enrollment is restricted to sworn law enforcement officers and personnel directly assigned to law enforcement agencies.
