Deviant Sexual Behavior and Related Criminal Activity

This comprehensive program is designed to equip law enforcement professionals with the essential knowledge and investigative expertise required to effectively address violent, sexually motivated crimes. Understanding the criminal personality and developing specialized investigative skills are critical components for managing and prosecuting these complex cases.

The curriculum combines foundational and advanced investigative methodologies, enabling participants to develop competency as sex crime investigators. Through an extensive examination of various offender types—including lust murderers, pedophiles, child molesters, and rapists—students will gain insight into offender psychology and victim dynamics. Participants will explore how physical evidence and medical examiner findings contribute to successful case resolution and prosecution.

Given the sensitive nature of these investigations, the course emphasizes victimology principles specific to sexual assault cases and evidence-based approaches for interviewing adult and child victims who have experienced trauma. Specialized techniques for addressing victims' psychological needs are thoroughly examined.

Intended Audience

This training is designed for newly assigned and experienced detectives, investigation supervisors, crime scene technicians, medical examiner and coroner investigators, prosecutors, and military investigative personnel. Enrollment is restricted to sworn law enforcement officers and personnel directly assigned to law enforcement agencies.
