Course Overview

This foundational course represents the first offering in a three-course sequence designed to develop comprehensive traffic crash investigation capabilities. Participants will master the essential techniques required to execute thorough traffic crash investigations and present their findings effectively in legal proceedings.

The curriculum focuses on proper methodologies for scene measurement, scale diagramming, and photographic documentation to preserve physical evidence and critical scene data. Students will gain proficiency in the mathematical, physics, and engineering principles that underpin crash investigation analysis, including the appropriate equations for various crash types. Through structured learning, attendees will develop the ability to interpret collected information to reconstruct the sequence of events before, during, and after a collision.

Program Details

The course spans 80 hours of instruction, with classes meeting from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. The enrollment fee is $1,195.00. Please note that Florida law enforcement officers should be aware this course does not qualify for Salary Incentive Credit under the FDLE Traffic Homicide Investigation classification.

Series Information

This is the initial course in a comprehensive three-part sequence. The second course, Advanced Traffic Crash Investigation, and the third course, Traffic Crash Reconstruction, are available to build upon the foundational skills developed here.
