At-Scene Traffic Crash/Traffic Homicide Investigation
This comprehensive program represents the first course in a three-part training series designed to provide participants with essential competencies for conducting detailed traffic crash investigations and properly preparing findings for legal proceedings.
Course Overview
Participants will develop the skills needed to execute thorough investigations at collision scenes, with emphasis on accurate measurement, scale diagramming, and photographic documentation to preserve physical evidence and critical information. The curriculum integrates mathematical, physical, and engineering principles applicable to crash analysis, teaching participants the specific equations and methodologies required for various collision types. Through systematic analysis, students learn to reconstruct the sequence of events before, during, and after a collision.

Important Note: For Florida law enforcement officers, successful completion of this course does not qualify for Salary Incentive Credit under the FDLE Traffic Homicide Investigation course designation.
Series Information
This course serves as the foundational component of a three-course sequence. Participants may advance to the second course, Advanced Traffic Crash Investigation, and subsequently to the third course, Traffic Crash Reconstruction, to deepen their expertise in the field.
