Investigation of Motorcycle Crashes - Level I

Course Overview

This specialized training program is intended for seasoned traffic crash investigators who possess solid foundational knowledge of crash investigation methodologies and mathematical principles. The course builds on that expertise by introducing advanced mathematical approaches specifically tailored to the investigation and analysis of motorcycle-related crashes.

• Assessment of acceleration and deceleration performance characteristics specific to motorcycles

• Equipment evaluation including tires, protective gear, and other components
• Practical formula applications through hands-on projects

Target Audience

This course welcomes law enforcement personnel, private sector traffic crash investigators, insurance claims adjusters, engineering professionals, prosecuting attorneys, safety officers, military investigators, and visualization specialists including animators and graphic designers.

Florida Officers: Grant-funded tuition seats are available exclusively to sworn Florida law enforcement officers. Federal and military law enforcement personnel stationed in Florida are not eligible for grant funding.

Prerequisites

Participants must have successfully completed IPTM's Advanced Traffic Crash Investigation course or an equivalent program from another accredited institution.

Course Duration and Schedule

The program spans 40 hours of instruction, typically conducted over five consecutive days from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day.

• Scientific calculator
• Traffic template or engineering ruler with a minimum scale of 1:120 or 1:240

• Flash drive with 2GB or greater storage capacity

Continuing Education

Successful completion of this course qualifies participants to earn 40 ACTAR CEUs (Continuing Education Units).
