FULL TIME ASSISTANT ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER

Police Department
40Hours per Week

THE POSITION:

This position is accountable for the enforcement of all laws and regulations pertaining to the control and impoundment of domestic, companion and exotic animals as well as enforcement of animal cruelty laws.

Rotating 5 days on/2 days off, 5 days on/3 days off schedule.

This position will be evening hours, approximately 2pm-10pm.

REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are also representative of knowledge, skill and ability required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Knowledge of domestic, companion and exotic animal control procedures and operation of animal control facility
  • Knowledge or relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations pertaining to domestic, companion and exotic animals
  • Knowledge of law enforcement procedures
  • Considerable interpersonal skills
  • Oral and written skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a valid Connecticut driver’s license or be able to obtain one within 10 days of hire
  • Connecticut Municipal Animal Control certification must be obtained within one year of hire
  • Current NACA Level I and II Certification preferred
