JOIN THE NEW PROVIDENCE POLICE DEPARTMENT
PROCESS IS OPEN TO CURRENT BCPO CERTIFIED, SLEO 2 WAIVABLE, AND ALTERNATE ROUTE CANDIDATES
Minimum Requirements
- Must be CURRENT BCPO CERTIFIED, SLEO 2 WAIVABLE, or ALTERNATE ROUTE CANDIDATE
- Shall be a citizen of the United States
- Resident of the State of New Jersey
- The applicant must be sound in mind and body
- The applicant must be able to read, write and speak the English language well and intelligently
- The applicant must be of good moral character
- The applicant must not have been convicted of any crime involving moral turpitude which will be prejudicial to the morale of the Department
- The applicant shall not be less than 18 years of age
- Possess a valid NJ driver’s license
- Must not have reached 35th birthday by time of appointment
- If offered conditional employment, applicant must be able to pass a background check, psychological exam, medical exam and drug screening
STARTING SALARY FOR CURRENT, CERTIFIED TRANSFERS, NEGOTIABLE WITH PREVIOUS LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPERIENCE
Starting salary negotiable $48,000 to $56,000. Current top grade patrol officer salary is $135,115
