Class III Special Police Officer
The Rumson Police Department is accepting applications and resumes for a Class III Special Police Officer. Class III Special Police Officers are assigned to schools within the Borough where they will perform school safety and security details.
The applicant must be a retired Law Enforcement Officer, less than 65 years of age, who served as a duly qualified, fully trained, full time Police Officer in any municipality or county of this State, a State or county Corrections Officer, State Juvenile Corrections Officer or Juvenile Detention Officer and was separated from the prior service in good standing within 3 years of appointment to this position.
Applicant must also possess the below qualifications:
- Valid New Jersey Police training certification or other listed above
- Be a citizen of the United States and a resident of New Jersey prior to appointment
- Possess a valid New Jersey Driver’s License
- Must be sound in body and of good health, which must be certified by a physician licensed to practice in the State of New Jersey.
- Must be of good moral character and must not have been convicted of any offense that would make the applicant unfit to perform his or her duties.
- Must be physically capable of performing the functions of the position in accordance with the Police Training Commission (PTC).
- Applicants must successfully pass a medical and physical examination, a psychological examination, a complete drug and alcohol screening, a thorough personal background check, and an oral interview.
