Potential to hire as many as 1 officer during life of the eligibility list
The Waterford Township Police Department answers nearly 18,000 calls for service annually
Officers work a Pitman Schedule working a two-week rotation of days followed by nights (7am to 7pm etc)
Waterford Township Police Department is an accredited police department through the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police.
Our officers have access to the latest equipment and technology
Officers have the opportunity to participate in specialized units / training such as the Special Response Team, Criminal Investigative Unit, K9, accident reconstructionist, Drug Recognition Expert
Minimum Requirements:
- Entry level police officer position no experience required.
- New Jersey PTC (Police Training Commission) certified or currently enrolled in a Basiic Course for Police Officers a plus
- US Citizen
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent
- NJ residence required
- Must possess a valid NJ Driver's license
- Not less than 18 years of age and prior to their 35th birthday at time of appointment
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, read, write and speak the English language
- Of good moral character, sound body and good health
- Not convicted of any criminal offense involving dishonesty or which would make the person unfit to perform the duties of the office
- Must be able to obtain New Jersey Police Officer Certification
- All applicants must meet eligibility requirements set forth in N.J.S.A. 40A:14-122, N.J.S.A. 52:17B-71b, and N.J.A.C. 13:1-10.2.
- Must be able to pass a psychological, physical, oral interview and drug test
Job Description/General Duties
Police officers have a wide range of duties focused on maintaining public safety and enforcing the law. These include patrolling, responding to calls, investigating crimes, making arrests, and enforcing traffic laws. They also play a crucial role in community engagement and providing assistance to the public. Other tasks and duties may be assigned.
