The Pocono Township Police Department is creating an eligibility list and is accepting applications from interested and qualified candidates for the position of a police officer. Candidates can submit an application, resume, and cover letter to the Pocono Township Police Department through www.policeapp.com. The deadline for receiving applications is Sunday, June 19, 2022, at 4:00 pm.
The written test will be administered on Thursday, June 23, 2022. The location will be at St. Luke's Emergency & Transport Services, 2884 PA-611, Tannersville, PA. Registration from 4:00 pm to 5:50 pm. The test begins at 6:00 pm.

GENERAL INFORMATION
The Pocono Township Police Department was formed in 1968 with one patrolman. The current Police Department consists of twenty (20) full-time officers, headed by Acting Chief of Police Shawn Goucher with three (3) Detectives, four (4) Corporals, thirteen (13) Patrolmen, and a full-time administrative secretary. The agency provides 24/7 service to the residents, businesses, and visitors of Pocono Township. The Department is responsible for a jurisdiction covering 35 square miles with 126 miles of roadway and containing a population in excess of 11,000 residents. The community consists of a diverse mixture of residential, commercial, manufacturing, and agricultural areas. For more information, go to www.poconopa.gov .
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions and complete a competitive process including but not limited to oral interviews, physical and psychological examination, polygraph examination, and comprehensive background investigation.
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Must have a valid PA operator's license at the application deadline.
- Must possess current ACT 120 MPOETC certification at the time of application deadline or be eligible to pass the ACT 120 certification exam by the end of the hiring process.
- Must be a citizen of the United States in good standing.
- Must meet or exceed all requirements and conditions for certification under MPOETC Act 120, the Pocono Township Police Department Police Officer Job Description, and the PTPD Selection and Hiring policy.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
- Timely and proper submission and receipt of the application, resume, and cover letter
- Written Examination
- Physical Agility Fitness Testing
- Veteran preference points will be applied to candidates.
- Oral Interview 1 with the independent examination board
- Oral Interview 2 with Police Command Staff.
- Background investigation
- Polygraph examination
- Medical evaluation
- Drug screening
- Psychological evaluation
- The final selection will be made from any one of the top three candidates
THE PTPD OFFERS COMPETITIVE SALARY AND BENEFITS:
- Competitive salary as provided within the existing CBA. The 2022 starting salary is $58,198.40. 2022 Top rate Patrolman salary is $88,198.40.
