Job Description – Special Law Enforcement Officer, Class I
Summary:
The North Wildwood Police Department has employment opportunities for mature adults looking for positions related to the field of criminal justice. The North Wildwood Police Department is extremely proud to be the starting point for many seasonal officers who were trained in North Wildwood and went on to continue their careers in law enforcement. Former SLEO I officers have gone on to have successful careers in various municipal, state and federal police agencies throughout the country. SLEO I applicants must be able to perform the essential functions of police work. Applications will be accepted until March 15 for summer employment. Essential Duties:
The Special Law Enforcement Officer Class I (SLEO Class I) is a seasonal member of the Police Department. The SLEO Class I may be assigned up to forty-two (42) hours per week to provide public safety and law enforcement services and will be paid $10.00 an hour. Special Law Enforcement Officers Class I are required to work from academy graduation through September 30th
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required
- Be a United States Citizen
- Hold a valid driver’s license
- Have the ability to read, write and speak the English language clearly and intelligently
- Have and demonstrate good moral character and have not been convicted of any crime constituting an indictable offense or any offense involving moral turpitude; verified by a background investigation
- Pass a formal interview
- Pass a drug test
- Pass a medical screening
