Entry Level Police Officers
This application process is open to all individuals who are currently not licensed as a police officer in New Jersey or who are certified police officers in a state other than New Jersey. No waivers will be accepted.
Written Examination
The written examination will take place on October 10th, 2024 at 1800 at the Mountain Lakes High School.
Minimum Requirements
- Must be a resident of NJ (at time of appointment)
- Must be a United States Citizen
- Must be between 21 and 35 years of age
- Must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.
- Must have the ability to perform all tasks and duties of a police officer.
- Must possess a valid NJ driver’s license.
Must not have a criminal history and must be of good moral character.
Job Description/General Duties

Testing Requirements
NJSACOP Written Exam (minimum score of 70%)
Physical Fitness Test (minimum score of 70%)
**To achieve 100% on the physical test, candidates must perform the following**:
Pushups - Males 65 in one minute, Females - 50 in one minute.
Situps - Males 50 in one minute, Females 45 in one minute.
Squat thrusts - 20 in 30 seconds.
Illinois State Police Shuttle Run - 15 Seconds.
Vertical Jump - 25 inches.
1.5 mile run - 9 min 30 seconds

Salary
2024: $61,184 (plus 5%) - $135,615 (plus 5%)
