The East Hempfield Township Police Department is currently accepting resumes with cover letters from interested and qualified candidates for the position of Police Officer.
The deadline for receipt of resume and cover letter is April 30, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.

The EHTPD is seeking candidates who wish to enjoy a work environment dedicated to community service and law enforcement within a value guided police agency. We are seeking motivated police officers who possess a strong drive for self-initiated police work while operating within a team-based environment. We are only seeking proactive team players with a high desire to achieve and thrive professionally and on an individual basis.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The East Hempfield Township Police Department was formed in July 1963 and has grown to a current staff of 34 police officers and 4 civilian support employees. The agency provides 24/7 service to the residents, businesses, and visitors of East Hempfield Township. The department is responsible for a jurisdiction covering 21 square miles with 140 miles of roadway and containing a population in excess of 26,000. The community consists of a rich mixture of residential, commercial, manufacturing, and agricultural areas. For more information go to www.easthempfield.org
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older
Must be able to perform essential job functions and complete a competitive process including but not limited to oral interviews, physical and psychological examination, polygraph examination, and comprehensive background investigation
Must possess a high school diploma or GED Equivalency
Must have a valid PA operator's license at the time of application deadline
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States and provide proof of citizenship
Must meet or exceed all requirements and conditions for certification under MPOETC Act 120, the East Hempfield Township Police Department Police Officer Job Description, and the EHTPD Selection and Hiring policy

SELECTION PROCEDURE
- Proper submission and receipt of resume, cover letter, and subsequent application on Guardian portal
- Oral Interview with Command Staff provided to a group of applicants
- Polygraph examination
- Background investigation
- Medical evaluation
- Drug screen
- Psychological evaluation
- Final selection will be made from any one of the top three candidates for each available position
- Veteran preference applied to candidates within the top three final of each available position
- Preference may be given to applicants with prior police officer experience and/or Act 120 certification
WHAT WE OFFER:
- Competitive salary as provided within the existing CBA (2024-2028)
- 2024 starting pay: Act 120 certified -$73,717, w/out Act 120 - $63,717
- 2024 top patrol officer pay: $102,262
- 2028 top patrol officer pay: $115,097
- $5,000 sign-on bonus upon completion of probationary period
- Will send qualified candidates for Act 120 training
