The City of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania is a city of 75,000 residents located in eastern Pennsylvania. The Bethlehem Police Department is a progressive modern police department offering numerous opportunities for promotion or lateral transfer into specific divisions. Bethlehem Police Department has 150 sworn officers, and over 40 civilian employees, with communications division as an internal unit. Bethlehem Police Department is structured using the community policing philosophy and is committed to the community and police partnership.
Every sworn member of the Bethlehem Police Department is a Police Officer, regardless of rank, position or specialized assignment (Patrol, Community Services, Traffic, etc.). Police Officers are responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the protection of life and property, enforcement of criminal and traffic laws, prevention of crime, preservation of the public peace, apprehension of criminals, and calls for service.
