Bennington NH has a population of approximately 1,500 residents. We respond to an average of 1,200 calls for service in a year. There are numerous opportunities to participate in outdoor activities.

Although we still work weekends and holidays, we do not work overnights. Being a small agency, we can ensure considerable flexibility in scheduling leading to a balance work to life ratio.

Minimum Requirements:

Candidates must meet these requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check with no felony convictions
  • Ability to pass a drug screen
  • Ability to pass a physical fitness test comprising of sit ups, push ups, and 1.5 mile run.
  • Ability to successfully pass a polygraph examination and the ability to pass a psychological screen.

Job Description/General Duties:

General Duties include: Patrolling assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activity, respond to emergency calls, conduct criminal investigations, write detailed reports, enforcing laws and regulations, managing conflicts, interact with members of the community, handle animals safely when necessary, maintain continuing education requirements.
