The City of Beaufort Police Department is seeking to fill open police officer positions at the department. Experienced certified police officers, civilian military police officers, or former military police officers are preferred, but not required. These positions perform patrol duties in assigned areas of the City, respond to calls for service; generate calls for service, enforce federal and state laws and city ordinances, perform traffic enforcement, conduct property checks, and participate in community-oriented police activities. Minimum requirements:
Must be 21 years of age at the start of the application process; High School Diploma or GED; US Citizen. Must obtain a valid S.C. Driver’s License within one week of the date of hire; clean criminal record (no felonies, serious misdemeanors, criminal domestic violence, or crimes of moral turpitude); favorable driving record with no DUI or DUS conviction in the last ten years, or any conviction of leaving the scene of an accident. Candidate must have no prior history of illicit drug use in the past 3 years in accordance with South Carolina or Federal Laws.
