ABOUT OUR DEPARTMENT

Patrol Division

The Patrol Division is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The Patrol Division consists of uniform patrol officers that patrol in both marked and unmarked police vehicles. Patrol officers respond to various types of calls for service as well as conduct pro-active and preventative criminal and motor vehicle enforcement.

Detective Division

The Detective Division coordinates the on-scene investigation of major incidents; investigates crimes which require extended periods of time, expertise, or sensitivity; and conducts follow up to all crimes initiated through patrol reports.

The Detective Division determines if a crime has been committed, gathers and preserves evidence, identifies and apprehends the offender, recovers stolen property, prepares cases which lead to the successful prosecution and conviction of the perpetrator and renders assistance to the crime victim during all stages of an investigation.

Records Division

The Records Division is the central repository for all of the department’s records which includes accident investigations and investigative reports. 

Administrative & Training Division

The Administrative and Training Division is responsible for all of the police department's administrative functions and the coordination and planning of continuing professional training for all police department employees. Additionally, the Administrative and Training Division conducts all pre-employment background investigations for police department applicants and selected other employment applicants.

Professional Standards Division

The goal of the Professional Standards Division is to ensure that all complaints or allegations against the East Haven Police Department or any of its employees are investigated in a thorough, fair, and impartial manner. The rights of all citizens and employees of the East Haven Police Department shall be protected and confidentiality shall be maintained at the highest standard. We strive to earn the trust and confidence of the citizens we proudly serve while maintaining the highest level of ethical behavior and integrity for the East Haven Police Department by identifying, recognizing, and resolving public safety concerns.
