Full-time position for Emergency Telecommunicator Dispatcher. Receives & transmits emergency & administrative messages over combined Police, Fire and Emergency Medical communications system. Routes all calls, dispatches personnel & equipment to scene. Must operate radio equipment, various computer programs, CAD, EMD & NCIC computer systems as well as related equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- HS diploma or equivalent is required.
- Computer knowledge required.
- Accurate typing skills necessary.
- 1 year comparable experience preferred.
- Certification by State as Public Safety Telecommunicator and/or emergency medical dispatch certification desired.
- Must complete all local, state and federal mandated certifications.

Newtown Emergency Communications Center dispatches Police, Fire, and EMS for the Town Of Newtown. We answer all 911 calls for Newtowns Emergency Services. N.E.C.C. is located at 3 Main ST in Town Hall South. N.E.C.C. is staffed 24/7 by two Dispatchers. In 2010 N.E.C.C. answered 7,068 Emergency 911 calls.
