The Town of Falmouth is currently seeking applicants for full-time Communications Officer positions in our combined Police, Fire, and EMS Communications Center. Our Communications Officers answer a wide variety of emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatch public safety personnel, and operate various telecommunications equipment and Computer Aided Dispatch software.  The Town is willing to train applicants who have no direct experience but who do have excellent communication skills, the ability to multi-task, and a willingness to be available for all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Full-time Communications Officers work 40 base hours per week (five 8-hour shifts).  The training schedule typically starts on the day shift (7 am - 3 pm), and Communications Officers then participate in a shift bid by seniority for the 7 am - 3 pm shift, 3 pm - 11 pm shift, and the 11 pm - 7 am shift.  There is a minimum of two Communications Officers on shift at all times.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma, computer proficiency, and one year of clerical or administrative experience that involved working with the public. Applicants must be able to work in an environment that can be fast-paced and at times highly stressful.

Starting Wage: Step 1 $25.08/hour – Step 3 $26.59/hour commensurate with qualifications and experience. Comprehensive benefits package and overtime opportunities available.

The Town of Falmouth is proud to be an EEO/AA employer.
