Civilian Court Officer/Records

Buxton Police Department is currently seeking an organized and motivated individual with excellent written and oral communication skills. This position corresponds and works with the offices of the District Attorney and Attorney General in matters that relate to the Department’s court cases and forwards to these agencies written reports and other documents, as necessary.

While this position can be held by a civilian, currently sworn or previously sworn candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be at least 21 years of age at the time of employment.
  • Possess a valid Maine operator’s license.
  • Have at least two (2) years of post-secondary education or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Extensive knowledge of the Maine District & Superior Court systems.
  • Considerable knowledge of pertinent Federal & State laws and Town ordinances.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with the Judiciary, Court Officials and Prosecutors.
  • Ability to keep detailed and organized records.
  • Ability to type proficiently.
  • Ability to proficiently utilize departmental computers and related equipment.
  • Complies with Departmental rules, regulations, policies, and standards.
  • Complies with the Town of Buxton Personnel Policy
