SALARY
Entry level officer- $58,338.00- some adjustment available for officers with experience.
ABOUT NEW HOLLAND POLICE DEPARTMENT
The New Holland Police Department has been serving the community since 1926. We currently serve Earl Township and New Holland Borough in beautiful north east Lancaster county on a 24/7 basis. Our community has a total population of over 12,000 residents within 25 square miles. Historically the community has had a strong mix of agriculture and commercial businesses and interests. We are fortunate to maintain that vibrant combination today. We are also the home of the ELANCO School district office, Garden Spot High School and Middle School, as well as New Holland Elementary school. We also have several Mennonite schools and over a dozen “one-room” schoolhouses.
Our Department currently is made up of 15 sworn officers (14 full-time) and two civilians (1 full time Administrative Assistant). We share space with the New Holland Borough office at 436 E. Main St. (Rt. 23) in New Holland.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants shall possess a diploma from an accredited high school or a graduate equivalency diploma. In addition every applicant must be a United States citizen, be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer, be of good moral character and, prior to appointment, be Act 120 certified and possess a valid motor vehicle license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In the case of a foreign born applicant, evidence satisfactory to the Commission shall be produced showing the person to be a naturalized citizen.
TESTING REQUIRMENTS/HIRING PROCESS
- A passing score of 70% or better on the Lancaster County PA, Police Officer Exam
- An oral interview
- Successful completion of background investigation
- Successful completion of polygraph examination
- Successful completion of psychological examination
- Successful completion of drug screening
- Successful completion of physical examination
