APPLICATIONS ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED FOR THE POSITION OF POLICE OFFICER WITH THE JOHNSTOWN (PA) POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Johnstown Police Department will be accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Police Officer now until Friday July 31st, 2026. All applications can be found and MUST be completed at www.Policeapp.com. Physical testing will begin at 8:00am on Saturday, August 22nd, 2026.
Testing will take place at Johnstown High School Gymnasium located at 220 Central Avenue Johnstown, Pa 15902. The written test and interview will take place immediately following at the Johnstown Public Safety Building located at 401 Washington Street Johnstown, Pa 15901.
Physical Agility, Written Test and Oral Interviews will all be conducted on the day of testing.
Applicants must be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalency and have successfully completed the PA Act 120 certification by the time of appointment. Applicants must also be able to pass all mandatory components of the testing process to include a physical agility test, written examination, oral examination, background check, medical examination, and a psychological examination. Job Requirements
At the time of application, every applicant for a position in the police department shall possess the following qualifications:
- Possess a diploma from an accredited high school or a graduate equivalency diploma (GED).
- Act 120 certification upon appointment.
- Be a United States Citizen.
- Be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer.
- Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- All applicants must have reached their twenty-first (21st) birthday before being sworn in as a full- time officer.
Written Test
Test is approved by the PA Chiefs of Police Association
The test consists of four (4) segments
- Math
- Spelling
- Grammar
- Writing
Must pass with a 70% overall to continue in the hiring process
Written test is 70% of your final score
Oral Examination
Answer a series of questions by a board of three (3) examiners
Must pass by 70% to continue testing
Oral Exam is 30% of your total score
Background Investigation
If considered as a possible candidate an in-depth background check will be done before the conditional offer of hire
Veterans Points
The Candidate must pass all aspects of the tests prior to qualifying for Veteran’s Preference of 10 additional points. Must have an honorable discharge. Reservists and National Guard must complete their obligations to qualify.

- Starting Pay: $58,696.60
- Top Pay: $83,262.40
- 12 hr Schedule
