Experienced officers bring immense value to our department, and we believe in recognizing that. If you are a certified peace officer with prior law enforcement experience, you may be eligible for our $10,000 lateral incentive.

To qualify for lateral entry, you must meet the following requirements:

Lateral applicants must have a minimum of three (3) years of continuous service as a paid, full-time certified Peace officer from a municipality, Sheriff's office or Department of Public Safety.

Any break in service beyond ninety (90) days will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

A minimum of two (2) years of experience must be in patrol operations handling a full array of duties including, but not limited to enforcing laws, investigating crimes, and carrying a firearm.

Lateral STEP Eligibility Requirements:

Officers who have any pending disciplinary actions or investigations for misconduct, criminal activity or pending lawsuits are not eligible for this program.

Out of the State of Texas applicants must be eligible to take and pass the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) state exam before their hire date.

Successful applicants will be eligible to take the Senior Officer exam after a period of one year from the date of hire.

The Chief of Police or designee will make the final determination if an applicant meets the eligibility standards.


Salary:
3 years of experience - $87,263 (Senior Officer $92,400)
4 years of experience - $91,458 (Senior Officer $96,595)
5+ years of experience - $95,817 (Senior Officer $100,954)
