POLICE OFFICER
The East Hempfield Township Police Department is accepting applications from interested and qualified candidates for the position of police officer. The EHTPD is seeking candidates who wish to enjoy a work environment dedicated to community service and law enforcement within a value guided police agency. We are seeking motivated police officers who possess a strong drive for self-initiated police work while operating within a team-based environment. We are only seeking proactive team players with a high desire to achieve and thrive professionally and on an individual basis.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The East Hempfield Township Police Department was formed in July 1963 and has grown to a current staff of 34 police officers and 4 civilian support employees. The agency provides 24/7 service to the residents, businesses, and visitors of East Hempfield Township. The department is responsible for a jurisdiction covering 21 square miles with 140 miles of roadway and containing a population in excess of 26,000. The community consists of a rich mixture of residential, commercial, manufacturing, and agricultural areas. For more information about the Township go to www.easthempfield.org
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older
Must be able to perform essential job functions and complete a competitive process including but not limited to oral interviews, physical and psychological examination, polygraph examination, and comprehensive background investigation.
Must possess a high school diploma or GED Equivalency
Must have a valid PA operator's license at the time of application deadline
Must possess current MPOETC Act 120 police officer certification by March 31, 2022.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States and provide proof of citizenship.
Must meet or exceed all requirements and conditions for certification under MPOETC Act 120, the East Hempfield Township Police Department Police Officer Job Description, and the EHTPD Selection and Hiring policy.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
- Proper submission and receipt of application, resume, and cover letter
- Oral Interview with Command Staff provided to a group of applicants
- Polygraph examination
- Background investigation
- Medical evaluation
- Drug screen
- Psychological evaluation
- Final selection will be made from any one of the top three candidates
- Veteran preference applied to candidates within the top three final positions

- Competitive salary as provided within the existing CBA. (2022 starting pay-$68,161.00)
