Advanced Marijuana Impaired Driving Detection for Law Enforcement by IPTM
Advanced Marijuana Impaired Driving Detection for Law Enforcement
This comprehensive course expands on foundational material from IPTM's introductory Marijuana Impaired Driving Detection program by delving into the physiological aspects of cannabis, duration of impairment effects, various administration routes, and recognized impairment indicators. Participants will explore emerging cannabis products, develop skills in identifying advanced impairment detection cues, and gain insight into the political factors influencing legalization efforts throughout the United States. The course also addresses Florida's Medicinal Marijuana Law and resources available through Florida's Marijuana Database.
Throughout this 8-hour program, attendees will become familiar with evolving cannabis preparations including tinctures, THC-A, vaping methods, and highly potent products such as dabs. The course examines the 302 Study and its relationship to cannabis impairment indicators as they appear in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. Advanced detection methodologies will be covered, with emphasis on proper execution of field sobriety tests, including modified Rhomberg Balance, Finger-to-Nose, and Lack of Convergence assessments.
Upon completion, law enforcement professionals will possess enhanced capabilities to identify cannabis-impaired drivers, conduct thorough investigations, document findings comprehensively, and build compelling cases suitable for prosecution.
