Marijuana Impaired Driving Detection for Law Enforcement by IPTM
Marijuana Impaired Driving Detection for Law Enforcement
This comprehensive 8-hour course, recently revised, equips law enforcement officers with the knowledge and skills needed to identify and respond to cannabis-impaired driving. Participants will develop expertise in recognizing contemporary cannabis products, including synthetic varieties, and understanding the distinctive impairment indicators associated with cannabis consumption.
The training covers cannabis physiology, including how it is administered, how long its effects persist, and modern developments in cannabis products. Instructors will guide attendees through the behavioral and physical cues that suggest cannabis impairment, with particular emphasis on how standard field sobriety tests relate to cannabis use. The course also addresses important legal considerations, such as distinguishing between hemp and marijuana.
Upon completion, participants will be equipped to more effectively identify drivers under the influence of cannabis and to conduct thorough investigations, document evidence appropriately, and build strong cases suitable for prosecution.
