Overview

This comprehensive program prepares Field Training Officers to effectively develop new officers into competent, professional, and principled representatives of their organizations. Drawing from the widely-recognized modified "San Jose" model that has been successfully implemented throughout law enforcement agencies across the United States, this course delivers proven methodologies for on-the-job training while prioritizing ethical conduct, professional development, and adherence to departmental protocols.

The certification program recognizes public safety professionals who display both technical proficiency and commitment to field training excellence. An effective FTO program serves as a critical component in minimizing organizational risk, maintaining consistent performance standards, and strengthening public trust and agency reputation.

Certification Requirements

Certification status remains valid for a two-year period. Participants who successfully complete both written examinations and practical assessments will receive official certification as a Certified Field Training Officer. To retain certification status beyond the initial two-year term, graduates must participate in at least one additional FTO-focused training program during the validity period.
