This course is designed to provide law enforcement personnel and public safety officials with essential knowledge regarding the constitutional protections guaranteed by the First Amendment. While often discussed in contexts involving First Amendment auditors and protest activities, understanding the full scope—including both the rights and constraints—of freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of peaceful assembly, and freedom to petition the government benefits both law enforcement and the broader community.
