Course Description

This course teaches patrol officers and interdictors how to proactively intercept criminal activity through lawful consensual encounters in real-world environments like bus stations, train terminals, hotels, and gas stations. Using real body-worn camera footage, attendees will learn how to initiate contact, recognize factors of criminal activity, and distinguish between normal behavior and those engaged in illicit activity. The course focuses on practical, street-level tactics, legal considerations, and building reasonable suspicion through conversation and observation. Designed for both patrol and specialized units, this training gives officers the confidence to identify and disrupt criminal activity, without relying on the traditional traffic stop.
