Advanced Field Training Officer Course
This two-day training program running February 3-4, 2027, is tailored for Field Training Officers (FTOs) and department FTO coordinators seeking to strengthen their instructional abilities, interpersonal communication, and record-keeping practices. The course emphasizes the critical importance of rigorous training standards and comprehensive documentation in today's complex legal environment, particularly regarding FTOs' responsibility in preparing new officers and preventing exposure to negligent retention claims.
Delivered through a combination of presentations, collaborative discussions, and hands-on activities, the course enables participants to develop expertise in training methodology and mentoring while maintaining the highest levels of departmental professionalism and accountability.

The course holds certification from the Southeastern Field Training Officer Association (SEFTOA) and is instructed by Captain Rob Fanelli or Lieutenant Wayne South (ret).
